Parineeti: A Divine Actress - Tracing Through her Roles

Parineeti Chopra, often referred to as Pari, Trisha and also Parineeta during her early days as in infant in this industry has triumphantly marked her place in Bollywood and detaching herself from her label of 'Piggy Chop's cousin'. She is one of the few actors whose fate brought them to the Hindi film paradise. Having secured a triple degree in business, finance and economics from Manchester film school in London, Parineeti was sure of a settled life in New York as an investment banker but as her name suggests, her destiny began to take shape when she started off as an assistant on the sets of Band Baaja Baarat. She was the organiser for the films promotional event 'Shaadi Aapki, Planning Humari, aur Kharcha bhi Humara'. Referred to as 'Recession ki Dein' by Arjun Kapoor, from Ladies vs Ricky Bahl (2011) to Daawat-e-Ishq (2014), Parineeti's success graph has never seen a single downfall.

1. Ladies vs Ricky Bahl (2011)

Ladies vs Ricky bahl was a film about a con man (Ranveer Singh) who cons women for a living. Parineeti's debut role was of a bubbly girl Dimple Chaddha who falls in love with her gym trainer and gets conned for 30 lakhs. The director Maneesh Sharma casted Parineeti after being acquainted with her on the sets of Band Baaja Baarat. Parineeti still mentions in interviews how she owes her career owing to Maneesh Sharma's prediction of 'dimple' being a very likeable character. Cheers to Manish for delivering a talent bestowed Parineeti to our industry.

2. Ishaqzaade (2012)

Although Dimple was Pari's debut role, her character of Zoya Qureshi in Ishaqzaade became her crowning glory. Ishaqzaade was about the religious and political clash between the Qureshis and Chauhans. It traced how Zoya (Parineeti Chopra) and Parma (Arjun Kapoor) were born to hate but destined to love. From a bubbly Dimple to ferocious Zoya, Parineeti proved that she was not a one film wonder and is here to stay.

3. Shuddh Desi Romance (2013)

Shuddh Desi Romance was a venture by Parineeti's debut film director, Maneesh Sharma. It was a modern take on how traditional Indian values oppose western cultures such as live in relationships but at the same time, shows how the current generation is confused about marriage and love. The film tells us about what comes after love and before commitment. Parineeti's role was of Gayatri who has a very modern outlook. She smokes, drinks, has live-in relationships and even runs away from her own wedding! Parineeti stole the show between herself, Sushant Singh Rajput and new commer Tara Sharma.

4. Hasee Toh Phasee (2014)

Hasee Toh Phasee portrayed Parineeti as mental Meeta who is a chemical engineer from IIT. She reaches India from China for a hefty theft of Rs.10 crores from her father. Meanwhile, she falls for her sisters fiance, Nikhil (Siddharth Malhotra) after spending some time with him. They both help each other out of their troubles and realise their love.

Parineeti's upcoming film Daawat-e-Ishq (Read Review) with Aditya Roy Kapur has generated a great load of anticipation among the audience. As we wait for the films release this month with anxiety, we remain oblivious to 'Kill Dil'. We wish Parineeti all the best for her future projects.
